Deaf Interpreter – Rebecca Hossain

Rebecca is a co-founder and president of ISDHH, and has been teaching ASL over the last seven years in different Islamic Centers and Masjids across North Texas, including Deaf Halagas in the Muslim American Society (MAS) in Dallas, and teaching ASL to adults and children in The Flower Mound Islamic Association (FMIA), mentoring ASL classes and teaching life skills to Deaf refugees from the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and teaching ASL language classes in Valley Ranch Islamic Center (VRIC) for adults and children. Rebecca is also a dedicated ASL teacher online and has been devoted every Friday to translating the Jummaa Khutbah of Valley Ranch Islamic Center (VRIC) and The Islamic Center of Irving (ICI) and broadcasting the Khutbah in ASL worldwide. In her own words: "I would like all people across the world, Deaf and Hearing, to know and see that being Deaf is not an obstacle that differentiates Muslims, instead learning ASL is the way to accomplish integration. Deaf people have the right to learn Islam and access Islamic knowledge."
